Krishmar Santokie WI recall after CPL show

West Indies Left-arm pacer Krishmar Santokie says he hopes his performances for the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the just-concluded Caribbean Premier T20 League (CPL) will help him regain his place in the West Indies senior team.

Santokie was named Player of the match after taking 16 wickets to end as the leading scalper in the initial event. However his franchise suffered a 7 wicket loss to the Jamaica Tallawahs in the finals at Queen Park Oval, in Trinidad Saturday.

It's a very brilliant and prestigious moment for me to be named Player of the Tournament, CMC quoted Santokie as saying Wednesday. I have been trying to get the award ever since the Caribbean Twenty20 tournament started a few years back, and, in my eyes, it has been very close.

Santokie also claimed the leading wicket taker title in 2012 and finished 3d in this year staging of the now-defunct CPL t20.He has represented the West Indies in Twenty20 internationals, the last of which was 2 years ago.

It has happened, however, in this historic CPL, which is great for me and my career, and I hope it opens up new doors for me with regards to the West Indies, and international, said Santokie who past this year represented Khulna Royal Bengals in the Bangladesh Premier League BPL.

The Jamaican pacer done the tournament with an impressive economy rate of 6.22, a wicket strike rate of 13.1, and an average of 13.6.I is a bit disenchanted that my team did not bring it across the line, said Santokie, who done the game with none for 31 off his maximum 4 overs.

Tallawahs made 129 for 3 off 17.3 overs in reply to Amazon Warriors 128 for 5 off their maximum 20 overs.

Zaheer fitness ready for South Africa tour

Zaheer Khan is one of the best fast bowlers that India has produced. But at 34, he is not getting any younger and injuries have reduced his appearance on the international tour.

But Zaheer khan is not content to rest on past laurels and being just a mentor to young bowlers. He underwent a 42-day training camp in France, and the move has not only made him leaner and stronger, but also better his chances of making a comeback for India tour to South Africa later this year.

When Zaheer khan hobbled off the field at Lord in July 2011, holding his restrict, it gave critics another chance to question his fitness.

Zaheer also missed most of the 6th Indian Premier League as he was out of shape. Curtailing his run-up did not help matters either.

Speak to Mail Today; a senior BCCI official confirmed that he was in the plan of things as far as the Test series in South Africa is concerned.

While there has not really been any formal discussion among the selectors about the team for South Africa, Zaheer is very definitely in the fray. It is good to see that he has used the time away from the game to work on his fitness.

Shikhar Dhawan world record in limited overs crickets

Indian Team Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan said he could have hit a triple ton but was happy with his whirlwind 248 in the 39-run win over South Africa A that took India A to the tri-series final against Australia A.

Dhawan fell 20 runs short of the world record List A (limited overs) score - England batsman Alistair Brown's 268 for Surrey vs Glamorgan at The Oval in 2002. But Dhawan 150-ball 248 was the highest run by an Indian following Virender Sehwag (219 n.o) and Sachin Tendulkar (200 n.o).

I was aware of the record and it felt really special to score these runs, Dhawan said.

When I got out in the 44th over it occurred to me that had I batted till the end I had a chance to score a triple hundred. I am happy with what I scored though. It did cross my mind that I joined Sachin and Sehwag in scoring a double century in a one-day International game," he said.

Dhawan enjoyed his innings against South Africa in their own backyard in a series that is a warm-up for India tour later this year I especially enjoyed it as it came against a South African side in their own backyard. They are very tough to play at home and they play good excellence cricket," Dhawan said.

The southpaw admitted that Sachin and Sehwag's double centuries were more important in the context. Those were 2 of the greatest innings in cricket record and they came at the international level. So, they are much bigger than my innings, Dhawan said.

This year, Dhawan has been in well form scoring 4 international centuries – one in Tests and 3 in ODIs. He was also the Man of the Series in the Champions Trophy that was won by India. I had scored 85 in the previous match (vs Australia A) and I wanted to score a big hundred for the team because our batsmen were all getting out in the 80s and 90s, he said.

A big century was necessary for setting an excellent total. Once I crossed 100, I was in a different flow. I thought my shot selection was brilliant and things went my way," he added.

This will remain one of my favorite’s matches because I scored 200 for the 1st time in a 50-over game. Unhappily it was not broadcast live on television but that's well because I loved batting, said Dhawan.
